The Lotus Varsity Girls and Boys Basketball teams took home the big win on November 28th, 2018. From the packed bleachers to the loud cheering, the Lotus community showed out for the first game of the season.

Our Varsity Girls won 31-19 against Denver Academy of Torah. After months of preparation and the help of our coaches, the girls were able to “run it, defend it, and rebound it” in our home gym.

“At first we felt nervous from the anticipation of our first game, but after the first quarter, we fell into it and just started hooping,” Ratag Abdelmalik, senior and varsity player says.

The Varsity Boys won with a 30 point lead, setting a standard for the rest of the season. The 49-19 win against Florence High School kicks off the beginning of their new season.

Zak Tareke, Senior and Varsity Basketball Boys player says, “It was a good season opener win and our team played hard.”

The gym was packed for both games earning all secondary students free dress on Tuesday, December 4th. Come support both teams at their upcoming games and don’t forget to fill the bleachers and make some noise!
