Bomb Threat Investigation Update

December 18, 2018

As many of you know, on December 10th, 2018 LSE received an anonymous bomb threat which was later determined to be fake.

It hasn’t just been Lotus receiving anonymous bomb threats, however. These past few days, 20 Jefferson county schools and numerous government official buildings received anonymous bomb threats.

According to the authorities, the bomb threats sent to dozens of schools, government buildings, and other locations across the U.S. appear to be a hoax.

The wave of bomb threats haven’t only been in the US. Canada has also been receiving these threats. Police in both countries reported threats, some emailed, some phoned in. The FBI said in a statement that it was aware of the threats and encouraged the public to promptly report any suspicious activities.

The APD posted about it on their Twitter:

Ms. Neziba, our register administrative assistant quoted, “Every call we take seriously and follow safety procedures. Our students’ safety and everyone’s safety is our priority. Even though it was fake we take this very serious and we take serious precautions right away.”

Ms. Olivas, who answered the bomb threat, said, “I couldn’t believe that we were getting that call and what they were saying. I yelled at Ms. Neziba to get Mr. Hecker. Mr. Hecker called the authorities and then the appropriate procedure was taken.”

When asked how the investigation was going, Mr. Hecker, the principal of LSE stated that it was advised by the police not to disclose information about the caller as the investigation is still on-going.
