Fear is an emotional state that we all experience. According to the Mental Health Foundation, it is the most powerful emotion, and it has a big impact on our mind and body. It is a natural occurrence which means it is something that keeps us alive and can be changed over time. Contrary to popular belief, fear is actually a good thing because it relates to the fight or flight response. According to HUFFPOST,  your physiology comes in to protect you when you are fearful. You can learn how to overcome your fear so your fear does not prevent you from stepping out of your comfort zone.  You might not have control on the outside world around you, but you can control your reactions. You can decide how you want to use your body, focus, and language.

Here are some concepts to realize when you’re in your fearful state:

  1. How are you using your body when you are fearful?
  2. What is your focus? What do you have to think about that makes you fearful?
  3. What kind of language do you use to make yourself fearful?

Fear itself is not a problem, but rather our reaction to our fears. 

Here are some tips on how to overcome your fear:

  1. Change your state first and recognize it.
  2. You can not hesitate.
  3. Pay attention to your focus, body, and language.

To overcome your fear, you have to recognize that you are in control of your state. You can put yourself in a different state at any moment you want. Proactively get yourself in a state where you are confident, certain, and comfortable.
