Winter Sports are Here!
Although fall sports are coming to an end, our beloved winter sports are here.
December 6, 2022
Winter sports are finally here after a five-month wait. This year, families and lotus students are permitted to be spectators, unlike last year, where (due to COVID-19 limitations) they were not allowed. Many of the players were excited to hear that there will be spectators at the games.
Freshman Surafel Lemma says, “I’m excited to have my family come and watch me play. I cannot wait for the first home game.”
The high school basketball teams for both the boys and the girls played Peyton high school on Wednesday, December 7. On November 28, the boys and girls played the Aurora West Spartans. The JV boys defeated Aurora West in a thrilling 38-24 victory. To ensure they obtain the results they seek, both teams have been practicing extremely hard. Junior Kidus Kebede says, “ After losing many seniors, this year we will definitely be the underdogs. We are fueled by the many doubters in our community.” The boys and girls appear to have doubters, and they are making every effort to disprove each and every one of them.
The middle school winter athletic events have already begun. On December 5, the girls’ basketball team played its final home game. B team won 17-16, but unfortunately A team lost their game 20-27. There has been a lot of participation in middle school sports in the past, and winter sports shouldn’t be any different. The girls in middle school are working hard to develop their skills.
Basketball for middle school boys begins on December 10th, and we anticipate a large turnout for participation. This is wonderful for young student athletes. Lotus Sports’ future is in capable hands. Winter sports schedules are available on the Lotus School For Excellence website, so you shouldn’t miss out.
