Welcome Back! An Update on the New Semester
The second semester has begun, and with it come some changes and major events.
January 24, 2023
Welcome back everyone! We hope you had a fantastic Winter Break and that you have returned to school feeling refreshed and ready for the second semester.
Here is what to expect in this new semester:

Hoodies are Finally Back!
It took a while, but hoodies have finally made a return to Lotus. The exciting news was revealed during the December fire drill when Executive Director, Mr. Williams announced that the school would be adjusting their uniform policy.
Initially, hoodies were banned for safety concerns; however, with the approaching cold weather, recent events, and implemented policies, the school administration has deemed it appropriate for hoodies to be worn corresponding to grade. Elementary will wear burgundy, middle school will wear navy, high school will wear black.
For more information on the dress code change, check out Yordanos Astatike’s article here.

The Auditorium Opens this Semester!
The wait is almost over! Students and staff prepare yourselves to see the reveal of our new auditorium that has been under renovation these past two school years. For more information, please refer to the Arts & Entertainment article highlighting its current progression, expected arrival schedule, and insight from teachers in the Fine Arts departments of our school.
Graduation will Be Held at Lotus this Year
Following newly added renovations to the auditorium, the Class of 2023 is expected to hold graduation in this location. Anticipating seniors with questions are advised to contact the class representatives, Mr. Chris, or Ms. Brauhn. Congratulations to our wonderful seniors for coming so far in your academic journey!
CMAS, PSAT’s, and SAT’s are Quickly Approaching
Students alike are expected to be preparing for state testing as teachers align their curriculums according to set state standards. With upcoming PSAT’s and SAT’s, students are advised to be mindful to begin preparations if they haven’t already to increase their chances for college admissions or be eligible for benefits such as the National Merit Scholarship Program. Students intrigued in these benefits or have generalized questions, please refer to Ms. Brauhn or your teachers for assistance.
As the semester progresses we will keep you informed of any changes, we hope you all have a great second semester and end the year strongly.
