Take a Look Into the Auditorium!
After more than a year of waiting for the auditorium to be completed, it has finally happened. Here's a look at the auditorium's new design and the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting!
March 7, 2023
The auditorium’s construction progress lasted more than anyone expected but the day has now arrived!! LSE adminstration are proud to announce that the auditorium is NOW OPEN! The auditorium is a significant project that’ll bring many events to take place in an area that everyone will enjoy and feel welcome in.
Major Changes:
When you walk in from the auditorium’s entrance, there is a renewed beautiful chandelier hanging up in the high ceilings. In the past there were some stairs, however those are now removed. The old benches are now replaced with new gray folding cinema chairs that can hold up to 600 people! The balcony was also renovated with new stair rails and is now more spacious.
Additionally for visual appeal, the dark blue curtains beautifully contrast with the white walls to elongate and brighten the auditorium. The floors were redone and perfectly complement the rest of the auditorium. And of course, the center of the show has to be the stage which is far bigger than before, and makes the perfect setting for many types of performances.
What happened?
The ribbon cutting celebrations began with the elementary choir’s performance of the Star-Spangled Banner followed by an opening speech by our executive director, Mr. Williams. The elementary choir had another performance after which Mr. Williams once again had the mic and explained the original vision and mark-up of the “PAC”. Following this, there was another performance by talented secondary students.
Before Mr. Williams closed with the final speech, Aurora Mayor, Mike Coffman, gave some insight in regards to our school. During his speech he called Lotus one of the highest performing schools in Aurora! Afterwards, there was a monumental ribbon cutting ceremony and conference with the Mayor present. Overall, the ribbon cutting ceremony was a success and a great start for the future of the Lotus Performing Arts Program.
The first events that took place in the auditorium was the elementary concert, followed by the ribbon cutting ceremony, and followed by the Secondary Choir and Drama Night that was held on March 2, 2023. Many events brightening our school culture are now enabled to take place in this location. Starting this year, the Class of 2023 and future graduations will be held at the new PAC unlike prior events held outside or other locations.
